 Shepherdsville-Bullitt County has experienced natural disasters.

Tornadoes, floods, and snowstorms are all part of the county's past.

When a series of devastating tornadoes hit western and central Kentucky late on Friday night and early Saturday morning, many people recalled the night of May 1996 when northern Bullitt County and Mount Washington were hit.

Just as the community did for its own disaster 25 years ago, Bullitt County organizations are uniting to help those who have been attacked recently.

Bullitt County Public School System will sponsor the Stuff the Bus event this Thursday.

Any form of donation can be donated to any public school. After arriving there, these items will be transported to the affected communities.

Water, toiletries, diapers, infant formula, clothes, cleaning products and money are just a few of the items needed. At this time of year, Christmas toys are in great demand.

The City of Mount Washington is collecting donations at the City Sports Center at 176 Park View Avenue.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the city will collect flashlights and headlights, batteries, work and practical gloves, tarps, toiletries, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, bottled water, blankets, coats, gloves, hats, socks and underwear , Warm clothes, and shoes.

The collected items will be distributed to cities such as Mayfield, Dawson Springs and Princeton.

The Mount Washington Police Department can also be used as a drop-off point.

The Salt River Masonic Lodge on Mount Washington also collected items on Wednesday.

Journey Christian Church in Shepherdsville is just one of dozens of collected items.

Field of Grace Baptist Church is coordinating with the Kentucky National Guard and is scheduled to be delivered to the area on December 21. They are looking for garbage bags, feminine products, paper cups and plates, non-electric heat sources and propane tanks, generators, coats and clothing, wipes, baby wipes and bottled water.

Family Day Ministry is preparing to provide assistance. More information is provided by Pastor Mike Miller via Facebook.

Vine Hill Baptist Church is also collecting necessities, including water, flashlights and batteries, work gloves, socks, blankets, hygiene and toiletries, boxed and canned food, tarps, baby food and pet food.

The American Red Cross is also the main place where monetary donations can be made.

Many self-employed businesses are also collecting donations.
